It’s never too soon to introduce your baby to water. There are many benefits and hardly any risks from introducing your young child to water if parents adopt a gentle, sensible approach. An early introduction encourages the development of a new-born babies natural swimming reflex in water, sustains and builds these reflexes which then leads to the natural development of voluntary arm and leg movements or what we know as swimming.
Parent And Child Class Age 2-3years
Preschool swimming - aged 2 years to preschool
We recommend teaching your young child as much free movement in the water as possible; not in a formal way, but through play and encouragement. This will lead to swimming when your little one is physically and emotionally ready. The focus should always be on having fun in the water without any pressure for achievement.
Non Swimmer Age 3-4 Years

These classes are aimed at children from around 5 years plus. There are on average 6 children in each group and children are grouped both by age and ability. They cover the Octopus series.
Minimum 10mtrs Front And Back Unaided
Improver swimming
6 years plus
Pupils have no of water and can swim a few strokes in shallow water without swim aids. This class is suitable for children that can swim 10metres in the water unaided front and back

Minimum 20 Mtrs Unaided
These Classes Are Aimed At Children who can swim without aids and are confident in the water . There Are On Average 6 Children In Each Group And Children Are Grouped Both By Age And Ability. They Cover The Octopus Series. This class is suitable for children who can swim a minimum of 5 metres unaided on the front and back.
Minimum 50mtrs Unaided Correct Stroke
These classes are aimed at children that have completed the Goldfish series only
this covers the angelfish series. This class is suitable for children swimming 50 metres of breast stroke, front crawl, back crawl with correct breathing and an ability to use dolphin legs over a distance of 10metres.
Advanced Swimming - Over 200metres Stoke Development
These classes are aimed at children that have completed the Angelfish series only
This course covers the Shark series. Children in this class will also have the opportunity to achieve distance skills and progress through the Junior lifeguard award.
Minimum 25 Metres- Stroke Development
These classes are aimed at children who can swim unaided over a distance of 15-25 metre's on the front and back and 10 metre's breaststroke and are looking at stroke development.
3-4 Confident With Aids
This is suitable for children who have swam with parents in parent child classes and are confident to move onto swimming without parents in the water
Working Towards 5 Mtr- 10mtrs Unaided
Young Beginner Swimming
These Classes Are Aimed At Children who can swim with aids and are confident in the water. There Are On Average 6 Children In Each Group And Children Are Grouped Both By Age And Ability. They Cover The Octopus Series. This class is suitable for children who have gained water confidence are happy in the water environment and are able to swim some distance with an aid.
